WOW!!!!!
Went here for my 11 year anniversary dinner. Was able to get last reservation for 5pm on a Saturday. Make a reservation or you may have to sit at the bar.
We started with lemon infused crab cakes and chop salad! Both were perfect!
My wife ordered the flat iron steak and I ordered the 8oz blackened salmon! Both were over the top! The handcrafted sauces with the meat choices were sensational. Our waiter let me try a local Flagstaff IPA, that was perfect with my meal. Place is small and warm. We will be coming back!!! -

Very encouraging that John's Chophouse is always busy, despite having the highest menu prices in Prescott. They have positioned themselves between high end fussy and low end comfort food, by providing high end comfort food.
The menu is actually very extensive for a steakhouse. Salads are exceptional for variety and ambition; the $6 small salads are huge for the price. Salads are dressed heavily, but with superb dressings. They could dial back the use of dressing. Less is more here.
Dinner entrees offer great diversity, and include marvelous side dishes. I was tempted by the pork chop with house made peach chutney, but opted for a 12 oz Bison strip, which ended up being a smart choice. Think of a tender NY strip, but more tender, more flavorful, and without the fat strip on one side. I ordered it medium, and it was cooked to order, but would opt for medium rare next time, since the fat content is so low. I got 2 interesting sauces, a gorgonzola-bacon butter and a pink peppercorn demiglace. Both were very good, but the bison was so tasty by itself that it was best naked. My bride had a perfectly cooked salmon filet.
The steaks and beef portions I observed at neighboring tables were all gorgeously prepared, dark caramelization on the outside, no burns, and a consistent red color through the center. The kitchen knows how to handle beef beautifully.
For sides we had roast broccolini and a potato ragout (with tomatoes, herbs and garlic). Each was outstanding, served in a small cast iron dish and bursting with flavor.
The wine list is brief, but interesting, relying on varietal character for good pairing options, rather than tired major brand names. Bravo for that.
The house baked pumpernickel bread loaf served to each table is wonderful.
Portions are generous, we didn't have room for dessert. Service was good.
Management has acoustic treatments in the works, as it is loud inside. Don't let that deter you if you want a memorable meal in Prescott. -

This is a top notch restaurant. Prescott doesn't have many of this quality. I've had several dishes and they were all good - really loved the crab cakes & the Chop House Burger. Hubby had pork chops and he was very happy.
Service is good, and friendly. Atmosphere pleasant. Nice cocktails. -

No cigar. Want a burning stick in your eye? How about a $1 charge for blackening a steak? $2 for a bit more Bernaise sauce. Petty, petty petty. Good food at high prices. Wine prices unreal for a joint in Prescott. No service, no drama, no graciousness. I predict a relatively quick failure.

Our first meal there!
The food has to be the best in Prescott. They really have done a fabulous job there. We enjoyed the lamb chops and the pork chop, the other couple had the duck. Everything was superb!
The atmosphere need some help. It is way too loud to carry on a conversation and very frustrating
The food was great. The service impeccable! Graciela is a fantastic waitress! But, the noise was awful.
Not the place I would return to for a nice dinner with conversation.
